Manistee Salmon FishingThe calendar may say August 1st but it feels more like October 1st.  Fishing has been up and down.  One day is decent and then the next a struggle.  We fished today with a great family from downstate.  Unfortunately, the weather was less than perfect.  We made our way out to the shelf and set lines in about 80 feet of water.  The plan was to troll west until we found cooler water and then turn north.  We ended up hitting and landing a triple once we hit 130 fow.  The big white hootch with a KRW Aquaglow 100 down took the first and biggest fish of the day.  The next came on wire diver 170 back with a small green hootch and KRW Aquaglow.  Our third and final fish hit a blue plug 90 down on the rigger.  By the time we landed those three, the seas were building and we decided to continue riding with the waves rather than turn around.  We had one more hit but that was it for the morning.  The seas continued to build and we decided to pull lines early and head back.  I am going to have to cancel my evening trip for tonight and have my fingers crossed hoping the wind tapers off so that we can get out in the morning.
